CAPS Course
What Is CAPS?
CAPS is a professional-based learning opportunity for high school juniors and seniors.
Students learn through hands-on, project-driven work while exploring careers, developing professional skills, and working with industry professionals on real projects. CAPS prepares students for their next steps after graduation.
CAPS Is for Exploration
CAPS is designed for students who want to explore, refine, or confirm their interests.
Some students enter CAPS unsure of what they want to do. Others have a strong interest and want to test it in the real world. CAPS supports both. Through hands-on projects, job shadowing, and working with professionals, students can explore new possibilities or reinforce and validate the path they believe they want to pursue.
It is okay to change your mind. It is also okay to confirm that you are on the right path. CAPS helps students make informed decisions about what comes next.
What CAPS Can Look Like
A student thinks they want to work in healthcare.
In CAPS, that student may job shadow in different settings, work on real-world projects, build professional skills, connect with industry professionals, and gain clarity before choosing a path.
Another student may enter CAPS unsure of what they want to do and leave with confidence and direction.
Every CAPS experience is different.
What Students Gain
Students develop communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and confidence that transfer to any post-secondary path.
Real Projects. Real Experience.
CAPS students work on authentic projects with local businesses and organizations, gaining exposure to a variety of industries and ways of thinking.
Who CAPS Is For
CAPS is for students who want hands-on learning, are curious about careers, are unsure what’s next, or want to confirm an interest they already have.
